Carburetor and Spacer

The spacer was cleaned, media blasted and refinished using Dupli-Color Gray Engine Primer, DE1612 and Dupli-Color Cast Coat Aluminum, DE1650.

The linkage was media blasted and refinished using Eastwood Carb Renew Silver Aerosol, Item 10187 Z.

The brass fitting was brushed, polished and refinished with Eastwood Diamond Clear Satin, Item 10300 Z.

The NOS carburetor was purchased on an eBay auction a few years back for about $40! It pays to look at auctions that list items for Mustangs, Falcons, Fairlanes etc.

This carburetor will be used to get the vehicle up and running. After that the carburetor (and distributor) will be replaced with EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection).

Notice the "HI & LO" settings for the accelerator pump linkage. These settings correspond to the following conditions:
  • HI - 50 Degrees Fahrenheit and below
  • LO - Above 50 Degrees Fahrenheit and/or 5000 Feet Altitude
I replaced the clip that holds the link in place from the spacer to the carburetor with a washer and cotter pin combination.
